[Birth Report Part 3] The despair of 1cm dilation. The reason I still couldn't give up
No, I've reached my limit...
I haven't slept in two days, I've been in pain the whole time, and even though I've been to the hospital so many times, there's no sign of the baby coming at all.😰
And on top of that, my cervix is still only 1cm dilated.
“Why???”
The hardest part was that it wasn't progressing even though it hurt so much...
Just when I was about to break down, things suddenly took a turn!!!
June 12th
0:30
At this point, my contractions were 3-4 minutes apart.
The pain was so intense I couldn't stand, and I kept vomiting.💦
0:48
Called my father.
I didn't want my parents to hear me suffering, so my husband called for me.🥹
Since the contractions were getting closer together, we decided to go to the hospital again.
3:00
When the midwife checked me,
my cervix was still only 1cm...
(Even though over a day had passed, it hadn't progressed.😨)
“We could admit you now, but looking at this, it's not going to happen for a while, so let's go home and see how it goes.”
That's what I was told.
At this point, my mental state was in tatters, and I think my expression said, 'I'm frustrated, I'm in pain, this is so hard.'
Seeing that, the midwife placed her hand on my chest and kindly encouraged me.
“If your breathing gets too fast, it's hard on the baby too, so breathe in slowly and exhale for 10 seconds like 'whooo'.”
“Yes! That's perfect. That's the feeling.”
“I know you're very anxious right now, but the fact that you're having contractions is proof that things are progressing smoothly. The baby is getting ready to be born. If you stay anxious, it won't progress easily, so it's important to relax. You're working so hard, so you'll be fine.”
I couldn't stop the tears again because of the midwife's words and the warmth of her hand. (I don't know how many times I've cried since the contractions started.😂)
9:00
I hadn't slept much for two days in a row, and my mind and body were at their limit.😢
Still, they told me to come in for my 39-week checkup, so I headed to the maternity clinic first thing in the morning.
10:00
Cervix 2cm dilated.
Despair again...
The midwife in charge this time was bright and reassuring, just like a mother.
“You've worked so hard up until today, and your belly isn't that big, so I think you'll give birth soon! Let's have the baby today! Let's do our best.😊”
She said that, and we decided to admit me.
I thought it would be another day of nothing, but the doctor dilated my cervix during the exam and it went straight to 5cm!!
With just one word from the midwife, things suddenly started moving forward.😳
I was truly saved by that doctor and midwife, and I felt from the bottom of my heart that I was glad I met them.
12:00
The contractions were getting weaker again, so we decided to use an induction agent‼️
From here, the most painful time of my life begins...
Next time, [Final Chapter]
42 hours and 38 minutes.
The day I met my daughter after the contractions
Thank you for coming to read again today.😊♡
It turned into a long battle, different from the birth I had imagined, so the story became long too.💦
Finally, the final chapter!! Look forward to the next one.💭
