The Decisive Difference Between 'People Who Are Somehow Lucky' and 'People Who Are Somehow Unlucky'
Have you ever thought, "Why is that person always so lucky?"
Have you ever thought that?
Perhaps because of my line of work, I seem to find wallets quite often.
On the side of the road, at convenience stores, in parking lots, in front of vending machines...
Normally, you wouldn't expect to find a wallet that many times.
But strangely, the "person who finds them" keeps finding them over and over.
And conversely, people who are always unlucky tend to:
・Drop their smartphones
・Lose their wallets
・Get involved in accidents
・Have trouble in their relationships
These things happen to them one after another.
That's when I realized something.
That "luck" is not just a matter of coincidence,
but is partly attracted by one's "habits."
In this article, I will write about the differences in habits between "lucky people" and "unlucky people" that I have observed as someone who frequently finds wallets.
Lucky people "observe their surroundings"
There is actually a common thread when I find a wallet.
That is,
"They are observant of their surroundings"
that is what it is.
Lucky people:
・Look at their feet
・Observe how people are doing
・Observe the atmosphere
・Notice when something feels off
In other words, they have high "observational skills."
Conversely, unlucky people walk around looking only at their smartphones,
are feeling irritated,
or have their minds filled with anxiety.
Their field of vision has become narrow.
In fact, opportunities and wallets are the same;
if they are not in your field of vision, they do not exist.
Luck might just gather
around those who 'can see'.
Lucky people 'act immediately'.
People who pick up a wallet
act the moment they notice something out of place.
'Oh, a wallet.'
Once they think that, they check it immediately.
Lucky people
are exceptionally fast at this 'immediate action'.
Conversely, unlucky people think:
- I'll do it later
- It's a hassle
- Someone else will do it
They put off taking action like this.
But life
is a accumulation of small decisions.
Whether it's working out, studying, or a side job,
successful people 'take a small step the moment they think of it'.
Lucky people
change their future through their ability to take action.
Lucky people are 'accumulating virtue'.
When someone finds a wallet,
there are those who take it away instead of turning it in.
But truly lucky people
think about the feelings of the person who lost it.
They take it to the police.
Then, strangely enough,
good things sometimes happen afterward.
Of course, this cannot be scientifically proven.
But I believe that
'actions that accumulate virtue'
will return to your life in the long run.
The same is true in the construction industry.
・Do things carefully even when no one is watching
・Help people in need
・Be kind to newcomers
・Greet others
People like this
are ultimately trusted by those around them.
And trust
attracts good luck.
Unlucky people 'always complain'
Unlucky people have something in common.
That is,
“Having negative catchphrases”
・The company is bad
・The boss is bad
・The economy is bad
・Politics are bad
・The times are bad
Of course, there are difficult things in reality.
But,
if you only complain,
your brain will start looking for the 'bad parts'.
Then,
you will stop seeing the good things.
This is similar to what is known in psychology as
the 'color bath effect'.
When you are conscious of red cars,
you only see red cars all over town.
In other words,
people who think they are 'unlucky'
end up collecting only 'evidence of being unlucky'.
Conversely, lucky people
do not overlook small bits of luck.
・I made it home safely today without any accidents
・My favorite product was still in stock at the convenience store
・The job site finished early
People who can pick up on these small fortunes are strong.
Luck is like a 'muscle'
I believe that
luck is not a talent, but more like a muscle.
In other words,
it can be cultivated.
・Greet others
・Clean up
・Observe your surroundings
・Read books
・Express gratitude
・Take immediate action
By accumulating these habits,
the 'flow of luck' will gradually change.
Conversely,
・Complaining
・Laziness
・Procrastination
・Unhealthy habits
If you continue these,
your life will gradually fall apart.
Luck may not be something that suddenly falls from the sky,
but rather the result of daily accumulation.
Finally
Every time I pick up a wallet, I think about this.
In life,
there are 'people who find things'
and 'people who overlook them'.
The same applies to opportunities, connections, and good fortune.
Lucky people
do not possess special abilities.
They simply
・Observe their surroundings
・Act quickly
・Accumulate good deeds
・Express gratitude
・Think positively
They make these a habit.
If you feel like you haven't been lucky lately,
try changing small habits first.
Surprisingly, luck
might not be far away,
but rather lying right at your feet.
