Can I tell because I lived there? Everyone around me is from Cleveland (American Travelogue 19)

Since I've come all the way to Charlotte unexpectedly,
I'd like to at least take my time looking around the airport...

That's what I thought,
but because the flight was delayed,
I ended up just walking to the next boarding gate.

By the time I arrived at the boarding gate,
many people were already lined up,
and boarding began shortly after.

In a straight line,
it's 950 km from Chicago to Charlotte.
It's 720 km from Charlotte to Cleveland.
Roughly speaking,
it feels like traveling from Aomori to Asahikawa via Tokyo.

What is this!

And then, the weather forecast.

It's sunny!

What was all that worrying for?

Finally, takeoff.
I'm heading to Cleveland for the first time in 26 years.
Will I really make it there?
I still can't believe it.

Cleveland has a small airport.
There shouldn't be almost anyone
connecting through there to go somewhere else.
Since there aren't any particular tourist attractions,
there aren't many tourists either, even though it's summer vacation.
So, most of the passengers
must live in Cleveland.

When I look around like that,
I feel like there are many people who look like they do.
Why I can tell they look like they do
is hard to explain in words.
Perhaps it's a sense I have because I lived there for three years.

After all,
everyone is wearing Guardians hats!

I guess I could tell that even without having lived there (lol).

Many people in Cleveland
are proud of and support
their local Major League team.
I'll probably explain that at some point.

Before long, what I could see under the thin clouds was
a highway crossing through the greenery.
Trucks and passenger cars driving sparsely.
A few warehouse-like buildings.

Since I've rarely seen any of these from above,
they aren't familiar sights,
but the piercing pain deep in my ears
told me that I was close to my destination.
