How to Find Happiness
Person A sets off on a sea voyage with someone who shares similar values.
Being carried by the wind or caught in the rain
is fun as an event within the monotony of the journey.
They happen to stop by a certain island that feels so comfortable
that they decide to settle there permanently.
They lived very happily.
Person B, believing that happiness can be found on
a certain island,
sets off on a sea voyage with someone who shares similar values.
Every time they are carried by the wind,
they are struck by the fear of not being able to reach that certain island.
They are hit by a storm and blown far away,
eventually arriving at a different island.
They are disappointed to be moving further away from that certain island.
Although they live comfortably there for a while,
they think they are not yet happy
because they haven't reached that certain island.
They set off on the journey again and finally, with great effort,
reach that certain island, but
nothing changes from their previous days.
Wait? Was the story about happiness being on that certain island a lie?
_____
That certain island might be named 'marriage',
'what I want to do,' or 'my true calling.'
Of course, there are lives fulfilled by setting goals.
On the other hand, there is also the term 'planned happenstance.'
I think it's a matter of what suits a person and what doesn't.
I feel that deciding that only a 'certain island' brings happiness,
like Person B does, can lead to missing out on everyday happiness.
There is no option where you suddenly become happy just by arriving somewhere.
I believe that both career and happiness are things that
'happen by chance, are discovered, or are realized'
along the journey.
Instead of a 'certain island' decided by someone else that you must visit,
I hope you live a life where you discover your own 'certain island'
based on your own standards while you travel.
Thank you for always reading until the end.
