Happy Writing Marathon #44 | Have you done anything recently that you felt went well? | Essay | Enjoying a New Life
Rearranging my room is something of a hobby of mine.
Sometimes I get the urge suddenly, and other times I set a day aside to do it while deep cleaning.
I've been decluttering for a few years now, so there isn't much left to move, and
I've reached a level where it's impossible for it to get messy (lol).
Even so, I still had the TV left.
Every time I rearranged the room, I would move it or change its orientation.
I watch sports broadcasts, NHK science programs, and documentaries.
I get really into baseball with the Tigers, and international competitions like the Olympics.
This year, there's also the soccer World Cup, which I love.
But... I think I've had enough.
That feeling grew, and during the three-day weekend for the vernal equinox,
from the TV to various small commemorative trinkets,
almost everything disappeared.
Now, what's in my room is
a desk and chair, a laptop, paper and pencil, a few books,
and a candle I sometimes light at dawn.
The only thing pinned to the wall is
the Sado Island landscape calendar I get from a friend every year.
That's all.
I think I did a good job.
It has become easier to empty my mind.
Oh, I forgot to mention.
I have 'clouds' stuck to the ceiling.
A blessing of rain falls from the heavens into my empty head.
It's a little trick.
My room is like a theater, isn't it?
No?
And so, April arrived.
