Doing Your Best Naturally
A friend of mine from my student days in America has become incredibly successful, and while they never say anything about that success, I always thought it was strange how refreshingly calm they were, only to realize it was because they had achieved such massive results.
So, since we connected on LinkedIn, I sent a quick message saying, "I'm so happy for your success," and they replied, "Thank you, I'll do my best. How are things with you?"
"I'll do my best"—what a simple and beautiful phrase. I was struck by the beauty of a mindset where those words come out naturally, without any sense of strain.
I think that even if you don't consciously think about working hard, just having the mindset of doing your best makes you think about how to achieve that, which leads things in a positive direction.
While it's important to think about what's "better" or "this is better," my friend taught me that it's also important to sometimes think about "this is the best" in your work.
I think I'll try to do "this is the best" in my own way, without pushing myself too hard.
