It is my 13th day working part-time in parking lot management.

I have finally understood my 'moment when my soul catches fire'.

My workplace is a multi-level parking garage that can accommodate 21 cars.

I guide customers to park and exit their vehicles safely, keeping a close watch to ensure there is no contact with pedestrians, bicycles, or other cars.

'Go ahead, take your time, it's perfectly fine.'

I feel a great sense of fulfillment in protecting the safety of our customers while adding words like those.

About 40% of the people who use the facility are elderly.

That is precisely why I value smiles and kindness, so that they can feel even a little more at ease.

'This is the real thrill of work.'

I am very happy to have encountered the joy of a new job at 66 years old.

On this day, I received a LINE message from my second son.

My second son, who works as an elementary school teacher, told me,

'Today, I just served a student a single bite of vegetables, and they told me, "Don't mess with me, go die..."'

He confided in me.

It is truly painful to be showered with such words after acting out of concern for a child's health as a teacher.

I told him this:

'You did it for the child, so it must have been really hard to be told something like that. But please, don't carry it all by yourself.'

'When you are in trouble, you should just handle it together with everyone at school.'

'Dad truly understands that you are doing your best as a teacher.'

Beyond just LINE, next time we meet,
I want to look them in the eye and really listen to what they have to say.
