Updating the Board selection process

[edit]

During the 2025 Board Selection process, the Board made a commitment to updating the process used in 2025 towards a more sustainable process. Community members have shared valuable feedback, proposals, and ideas regarding the Board of Trustees (BoT) selection process.

The ongoing discussions have been closely followed, and there is recognition that the current process has limitations. Work is now underway to review and improve it. These efforts will span all areas of the process, including the candidate nomination process, roles of various stakeholders in the selection process (like the Elections Committee, the shortlisting process, the candidates themselves, etc.), the overall selection timeline, and how decisions are shared with the movement. The goal is to ensure that there is the right mix of expertise and community representation on the board.

With the next selection cycle scheduled for 2027, there is time to make both incremental improvements and more substantial changes.
