Two PRX Show Partners Honored in the 2025 Pulitzer Prizes
“In the Dark” from The New Yorker won for Audio Reporting and “40 Acres and a Lie” from “Reveal” was named a finalist for Explanatory Reporting
The Pulitzer Prizes today announced winners in the 2025 awards. Two PRX show partners were honored, including the winner in Audio Reporting and a finalist for Explanatory Reporting.
The winner for Audio Reporting is the team behind the latest season of In the Dark. The Pulitzers acknowledge a “combination of compelling storytelling and relentless reporting in the face of obstacles from the U.S. military [and] a four-year investigation into one of the most high-profile crimes of the Iraq War.”
The series was released in summer 2024 by The New Yorker and distributed by PRX. The series also recently won a Peabody Award:
In addition, team members behind the Reveal series “40 Acres and a Lie” — including Alexia Campbell, April Simpson, Pratheek Rebala, Nadia Hamdan, and Roy Hurst—are 2025 Pulitzer Prize finalists for Explanatory Reporting. The collaboration with the Center for Public Integrity and Mother Jones investigated a federal government land program in the wake of the U.S. Civil War was released in June 2024, distributed as a podcast and via public radio by PRX.
The series also won a duPont-Columbia Award, National Magazine Award, and Investigative Reporters & Editors Award:
The Pulitzer Prizes first awarded Audio Reporting in 2020. Since, PRX has served as the podcast or public radio distributor for half of the winning series. Show partners honored previously have included This American Life (2020 winner), Suave from Futuro Studios (2022 winner) and Ear Hustle from Radiotopia (2020 finalist).
