Shun-ichi Amari was awarded the 2025 Kyoto Prize in Advanced Technology (Information Science) in recognition of his pioneering and foundational contributions to artificial intelligence, as well as his establishment of the field of information geometry.
This article collection celebrates Professor Amari’s profound impact on neural networks and related disciplines, and brings together original research and reflections from leading scientists whose work has been shaped by, or has evolved in parallel with, his groundbreaking ideas.
