    冷戦終結後の日本の防衛政策を概観できる好著である。概観と言っても中身は細部にわたり、外交や安保の専門家を志す学生はもちろん、職業外交官や制服組といったプロの眼にも十分耐えうる内容と言える。政策決定には政治と官僚の綱引きがつきものであり、この本は首相官邸や各省庁の思惑や調整のありようも詳述する。その意味でも幅広い方々が手に取って良い著作だろう。
