    近くのお寺で、般若心経が彫ってある建造物をみて、唱えられるようになりたいと思い般若心経の本を探していました。

    以前読んだ100分de名著の番組から出た本

    がわかりやすく端的にまとまっていた印象だったため、今回も手に取りました。

    私の仏教についての知識は高校の日本史世界史止まりでした。

    般若心経の生まれた時代の背景や、

    作られた意図を含めた、知識ゼロの私のような読者に向けたわかりやすい説明でした。

    誤解されやすい点も含めて解説がされていて

    現在世に溢れている般若心経に対する解説も一通りご存じの上で、

    なるべく正確に伝わるよう、

    般若心経に対しての尊重とご自身の表現や言葉選びに心を砕かれた一冊だと思います。

    般若心経の大切な要素を簡潔に知ることができたと思います。

    私にとって、般若心経についてだけ書かれた本を読むのは、

    本書が初めてです。

    小学生の頃、

    なぜか思い立って途中まで（不増不減まで）覚えたのですが、

    それっきりになってしまってました。

    今回、なんとなーく続きも覚えたくなって、

    どうせなら意味も･･･と思い、本書を購入。

    毎朝5分だけ、ひたすら声に出して唱え、

    3週間ほどでようやく、

    見ないでスラスラ唱えることができるようになりました。

    で、気になった部分の解説を本書で確認。

    読んでいたら、般若心経にも

    研究者（？）によって様々な解釈があることが分かりました。

    本書の解釈はその1つとして受け止め、

    他の本も読んでみたいと思います。

    分かりやすく書かれていますので、

    私のような入門者には、ちょうどよいかもしれません。

    これまで読んだ「般若心経」の本では、意味の考察は深く書かれているが、その誕生の歴史や背景はあまり書かれていないと思う。本書では、仏教という大きな範疇の中で、釈迦の仏教と大乗仏教とを比較しながら「般若心経」の神髄を述べているのが斬新だった。

    　自利と利他など今まで意識したことがない両者の違いも述べられており、仏教をさらりとしか知らない私にとって、類書にないだろうと思う明快な解説が随所に出てくる。字の大きさや濃さも高齢者にとっても読みやすいものとなっている。手元に置き、毎日のように読み返し、理解を深めたいと思っている。

    電気系の私は純僧侶の著作と違って先生の文書の調子が好きです。多くの著作が関連していて学習には好都合です。小型録音機に入れて繰り返し聴いていますと視界が深まっていきます。どなたの著書も「空即是色」はさっと説明されていますが、日本文ではすんなり理解できません。先にある「色即是空」の強調文だとする文法の言語（サンスクリットか、漢文かその他か）があるのではないかとさえ思ってしまいます。
