1981年京都府生まれ。2014年に『闇に香る嘘』で第60回江戸川乱歩賞を受賞しデビュー。同作は「週刊文春ミステリーベスト10 2014年」国内部門2位、「このミステリーがすごい! 2015年版」国内編3位と高い評価を受ける。翌年に発表した短編「死は朝、羽ばたく」が第68回日本推理作家協会賞短編部門候補に、『生還者』が第69回日本推理作家協会賞の長編及び連作短編集部門の候補作となった。他の作品に『真実の檻』『難民調査官』『サイレント・マイノリティ 難民調査官』『失踪者』『告白の余白』がある。

    苦労の末に江戸川乱歩賞を受賞した下村敦史さんの作品をかねてより読んでみたいと思っていました。今回はあえて受賞作『闇に香る嘘』ではなく、こちらの作品を読みました。山岳ミステリーに分類されるものですが、登山の経験のない人にもそれぞれの状況が分かるように丁寧に描写されており、好感がもてました。一方、気になる部分もいくつかありました。ミステリーを読む楽しみのひとつとして、著者がどれだけ読者を騙してくれるかという面がありますが、 作品中の「断罪が必要なんだ」というフレーズを見て、もしかしたらこれはアレではないかと読み進めたところ、案の定アレで、早々に見抜けてしまいました。また、すべてをきれいにまとめることは難しいとは思いますが、このままでは美月の立つ瀬がないのではと思います。とはいえ、全体的に完成度の高い傑作で、楽しんで読了することができました。未読の方にぜひお勧めしたい一冊です。

    大雪崩から奇跡的に二人の登山家が生還します。お互いに相反するコメントを発表します。この二人の登山家の家族、仲間が真実を求めます。

    そこにもう一人の雑誌記者も絡んできます。

    マスコミのも取り上げられ賛否が分かれます。

    また二人の登山家、その仲間の過去も現れてきます。

    山岳の物語ですが、その書き方はわかりやすく、想像しやすいものです。

    そのような状況で再度雪崩の起きた山へと登頂を試みます。

    この登頂の中で少しずつ今までのことが明らかになってきます。この過程がものすごく読んでいて胸に来るものがあります。

    エピローグも本当にいい感じで終わります。

    山の好きな人、推理小説が好きな人、そして恋愛小説が好きな人にもおすすめの一冊です。

    kindleで購入。　自分でも登山するので、色々山岳小説は読んでいますが、1980年生まれのこの作者も若いけど、世代近いけど、マジで良いね～～～後書きの謙虚さもこれまた良いね。　作者さん、社会人時代に報告書なんか書かせたら天才的な文書書いていたと思うよ。　　著者さん若いので、次から次へと色々体験してバンバン出して欲しいな、応援するぜ！！　フィクションと現実が織り交ざって、ヒマラヤは無いけど、行った事のある山々の情景が浮かんできます。　文句なしの５つ★！！
