1971（昭和46）年千葉県生れ。

1995（平成7）年東北大学法学部卒業。2000年『オーデュボンの祈り』で、新潮ミステリー倶楽部賞を受賞し、デビュー。

2002年刊行の『ラッシュライフ』が各紙誌で絶賛され、好評を博す。2003年に発表した『重力ピエロ』は、ミステリファン以外の読者からも喝采をもって迎えられ、一気に読者層を広げた。また『重力ピエロ』で、1970年代生れとしては、初の直木賞の候補となる。

2004年『チルドレン』、2005年『グラスホッパー』、2006年『死神の精度』が直木賞候補に。2004年『アヒルと鴨のコインロッカー』で吉川英治文学新人賞受賞。洒脱なユーモアと緻密な構成で読む者を唸らせ、近年稀にみる資質の持ち主として注目を浴びている。

2008年『ゴールデンスランバー』で第5回本屋大賞と山本周五郎賞を受賞した。

    読み始めて混乱した。

    「これは誰視点の語りなのだろう？」読み進めていくと、車が語っていることがわかる。

    なので、乗車している人が降車して遠くに行くような場面では、どのようなことが起こっているかわからない。

    内容はやや平凡な感じを受けるが、伊坂作品ならではのエンタメ要素が散りばめられている。会話の掛け合いなどは笑わずにはいられない作品となっている。

    思っていたよりずっと面白く、楽しめる作品でした。

    語り手の車、望月家の〈緑（みど）デミ〉こと緑色のデミオがいいっすね。自分のことを〝僕〟というところや謙虚さがにじむところなど、好感の持てる人柄ならぬ車柄でした。

    隣人ならぬ隣車にして〈緑デミ〉の気のおけぬ友・白のカローラの〈ザッパ〉をはじめ、車たちの会話の軽快感、ざっくばらんなところも良くて、読んでいてわくわくしました。

    それから、望月家の次男、十歳の亨（とおる）のキャラがインパクトありましたね。十歳とはとても思えない、賢（かしこ）すぎる子供なんだけど、切れのある彼の物言いはとても痛快で、魅力的でした。

    読み終えてひとつ残念に思ったのは、文庫本表紙カバーの写真に色が付いてなかったこと。おそらく、カバーに写ってる車はデミオだと思うんだけど、緑色であってほしかったです。そして、白のカローラや黒のアテンザ、宅配便のトラックとか、作品で活躍する車たちがにぎやかに写っているカバーなら、なお良かったです。

    〔追記〕新しい表紙カバーには、車に色がついているんですね。このカバー変更、良かったです。

    車視点という発想はおもしろかったし、いつもながら伏線の回収、自分を持ったキャラの魅力などはおもしろと思いますが、ストーリーがもう少し・・・

    緑のデミオ目線で語られる、優良ドライバーの望月家の物語。

    本書の中では当然のように車たちがおしゃべりするのだが、その車たちの会話がとにかくユーモアたっぷりで楽しい。私たちの世界でいう「顔を歪める」が車界では「ワイパーを歪める」になっていたり、気持ちが高揚するとピストンが上下する感覚に襲われたりと、なにかと車に絡めたものばかりでふふっと笑ってしまう。「違和感があるね」 「半ドアか？」がいちばん好き。

    伊坂さんの作品の中では、明るくてハッピーな方なのでとても読みやすいと思う。ここも伏線だったのか！という展開に、ワイパー動くこと間違いなし。
