フェルディナント・フォン・シーラッハ著『犯罪』誤訳・文章の欠落のご指摘につきまして
2011年6月15日刊行のフェルディナント・フォン・シーラッハ『犯罪』(酒寄進一訳)につきまして、複数の誤訳・文章の欠落などのご指摘をいただきました。
本書は2009年にドイツで刊行されたハードカバー第1版のVERBRECHENを底本に翻訳刊行しております。その後2012年に、ドイツで映画化にともないペーパーバック版が刊行されました。その際、著者が文章の書き替えをおこない、大幅な改訂・増補がありました。ご指摘いただきました誤訳・文章の欠落の原因は、主にハードカバー版とペーパーバック版の差異によるものです。著者には小社版の『犯罪』が改訂前のものであることをご了承いただいております。いずれ機会を見て、新版への移行も考えております。
また、誤植等につきましては、重版時や電子書籍化の際に適宜修正を行っておりますので、悪しからずご了承ください。

About the Author

作家、弁護士。1964年ドイツ、ミュンヘン生まれ。ナチ党全国青少年最高指導者バルドゥール・フォン・シーラッハの孫。1994年からベルリンで刑事事件弁護士として活躍する。処女作であるVerbrechen(2009)がドイツで大ベストセラーとなり、クライスト賞など多数の文学賞を受賞した。2010年には第二作Schuldを刊行した。

    どの物語も予想できない展開で緊張感があり、短いミステリー映画を何本も見ているような気分になる。謎解きは重要ではなく、誰かの破滅や逸脱、あるいは救済を描いていて、リアリティと深みがある。作者がいうように、我々は皆薄氷の上に立ち、下に落ちていないのは、幸運のなせる技なのかもしれない。

    現役の弁護士(作者自身)が回想譚として自身が過去に係った異常な「犯罪」について語るという体裁の短編集。勿論、単なる「犯罪」記録の枠を大きく越えた創造性豊かな物語に仕上がっている。私は、作者の第一長編「コリーニ事件」、第二短編集「罪悪」も読んでいるのだが、「コリーニ事件」を読んで感じたのは、作者が「人間は人生において常に<gray zone>を歩んでいる」と考えているらしい事である。本作も、その<gray zone>を「一歩踏み外して」<black zone>へと落ちてしまった人々を描いて、個々の「犯罪」の異常性と同時に人間の悲哀あるいは人間模様の機微・奇縁を感じさせる内容となっている。

    更なる注目点は、一見、「犯罪」記録の様でいて、ミステリ的趣向が随所に織り込まれている事である。「タナタ氏の茶碗」、「ハリネズミ」(一番の秀作だと思う)及び「サマーターム」等は特に巧い。また、<誤審>がこれまた随所に織り込まれている点も特徴で、第二短編集「罪悪」のタイトルに引きずられている様だが、作者が用意した設定において果たして「人間の『罪』」を問えるのかという問題を提起している様にも映った。

    本作は作者の特長である簡潔な文体で綴られているが、「罪悪」や第二長編「禁忌」では更に文章は削り取られ(研ぎ澄まされ)、文学的深みを増している感がある。その二作に比べると、本作は物語性に富んでいる点も特徴である。本作の出来も良いのだが、個人的には、作者の研ぎ澄まされた感性が今後どのような方向に向かうかも興味津々である。

    随分前に新聞の書評で読んだのは「罪悪」の文庫本だったかと。

    文庫本は苦手。単行本のほうで探すと「犯罪」のほうが先に出版

    されていた。そこでこちらから読むことに。

    文体はシンプル。わかりやすい。どんどん読めてとにかく面白かった。

    収録されているのは１１篇。「フェーナー氏」「ナタナ氏の茶碗」「チェロ」

    「ハリネズミ」「幸運」「サマータイム」「正当防衛」「緑」「棘」

    「愛情」「エチオピアの男」。

    「ハリネズミ」に「狐は多くを理解するが、ハリネズミにはただひとつの必勝の

    技がある」・・・そう、カリムのアタマの良さは誰からも、兄弟からも、理解

    されない。こういう展開すごいなぁとただひたすら感心するばかり。

    「サマータイム」の意外さ、「正当防衛」の何だかわからない得たいのしれなさ、

    「～健康保険適用の黒縁メガネをかけ、」この健康保険が適用されるメガネ？って

    ナンダロウって。いくら考えてもわからなかった。ドイツにだけ？あるの？

    日本にもあるのかしらん。もう一つ？だったのは「緑」。

    ナルホドねって読み進めたけれど、最後のさいご「緑」って何を意味するのかしらん。

    「棘」のフェルトマイヤー氏が年金受給出来てよかったねと思ったり、登場人物

    みーんなみな犯罪者なんだけれど・・・犯罪者になるか、ならないか、

    それぞれの事情を考えると出自というより出会う人との運不運が大きなものと

    なるようでもあり。最後の「エチオピアの男」は感動的。「～アメリカやイギリスと

    違って、ドイツの検察は中立の立場を取る。～～そして罪を問いつつ中立の立場に

    立つことほど難しいことはない。～～」ミハルカは犯罪を犯しながらも幸せになって

    よかったねって本を閉じました。シーラッハは作家であり弁護士。目は冷静で温かみがあり

    こういうのいいなぁいいなぁで。安心して読めました。次は「罪悪「へ。いざ！

    最初は図書館で借りたんだが、あんまり面白かったからアマゾンで買い直した。

    とにかく文章にキレがある。

    ストーリーにも読者を引っ張るパワーと、感情を揺さぶるインパクトが。

    11篇からなる短編集、ﾄﾞｲﾂ人刑事弁護士が書いた独特の雰囲気と余韻のある読後感を持たせて

    くれる作品集だ。決してﾐｽﾃﾘｰや推理小説という分野の作品ではない。現代ﾄﾞｲﾂ社会を描いた社会派

    小説などと大上段に言うのも憚れる。主人公の「私」は、弁護士（つまり著者の職業）であり自分が弁護を

    経験した事件を取り上げる形になっている。「犯罪」といっても色々な事件があり、加害者も被害者も

    千差万別だ、社会的事情も様々、同情すべき犯罪もあれば、全く反対のｹｰｽもある。そういった様々な

    「犯罪」を描きながら、著者のｾﾝｽであろう、温かいような、それでいて客観的な描写。解説で知ったが、

    この11篇のすべての作品には林檎が出てくる。と言って、林檎がﾃｰﾏというわけではないし、別に示唆的な

    意味合いがあるわけでもない。著者の筆力であろうが、1つの作品を読み終えると、次は何を書いてくる

    のか、興味津々でﾍﾟｰｼﾞをめくらせる。また、この著者の本が読みたくなるのは私だけではないと思う。
